The local portion of the Pentecost Offering this year has been designated to Feed the Kids Coalition. FTK was created in 2009 when a group of concerned citizens, including Trinity member Connie Moore, realized children in our community were hungry. The plan was to feed kids at the Boys and Girls Club a nutritious meal on Fridays before they went home for the weekend.

In the years since it was formed, FTK has become a nonprofit 501C3 organization. Hundreds of volunteers have prepared and served thousands of healthy meals to happy kids. Faith-based organizations and civic groups have joined together to create six teams which provide meals for 275 to 325 kids each Friday at 4:00.

Members and friends of Trinity, Agudus Israel Synagogue, and Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship make up Team #3 which prepares meals on assigned Fridays in Trinity’s kitchen. Meals are transported, with assistance from members of Kiwanis, to the Boys and Girls Club where more members of the team serve the meal to happy and hungry kids.

Attendance at a one-hour food handling class is the only requirement to volunteering for FTK and the next scheduled class will be held at 4:30 on November 8th. If you would like to learn more about FTK, please contact Mary Louise Forsythe (684-0643) or Priscilla Karvonen (890-5091).
