A native of Charleston, S.C., Susan Kincaid enjoyed a long career as a performer, college faculty member and non-profit arts executive. She held several leadership positions at one of the nation’s premier music schools, Chicago’s historic Sherwood Conservatory of Music, including ten years as Executive Director. Kincaid’s academic and performing experience includes teaching positions at the Detroit Community Music School, Toledo University (OH) and Bowling Green State University (OH). A frequent collaborative performer, she was the pianist for several acclaimed chamber ensembles, including the Detroit Woodwind Quintet and the Chicago Arts Quartet. She has performed dozens of solo recitals, played concerts with Chicago Symphony Orchestra members and faculty at numerous universities, as well as being a pianist for classes by famed ballet masters Ellis Duboulay and Maria Tallchief. Ms. Kincaid received her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from Winthrop University and completed her Master’s in Piano Performance coursework at UNC-Chapel Hill. Further performance studies were at the University of Michigan and Indiana University. Now retired from her former hectic life, she is a concert accompanist for Asheville Lyric Opera and is the Vocal Department accompanist at Warren Wilson College.
